Why Organic?

One of the most important reasons to go organic, at least while you are doing an elimination diet, is so that you will know that you are reacting to a food and not to a chemical, additive or pesticide. A second reason is the possibility of leaky gut syndrome. If your gut barrier is not longer keeping things out the way it should, chemicals and additives deemed safe for most people by the FDA may be more likely to cause you problems.

"There is ample evidence that exposure to a variety of drugs and chemicals can lead to autoimmunity. In many situations the drug or chemical-induced disease resembles idiopathic disease although the presence of disease is dependent upon exposure to the drug or chemical."

Patients started showing up at Northern California ERs nearly unresponsive, rigid, and tremoring — in other words, severely Parkinsonian. Savvy detective work by neurologist Dr. William Langston and his colleagues, along with the Santa Clara County police, traced the mysterious outbreak to a rogue chemist and a bad batch.

"Common uses of the chemical include:Extracting edible oils from seeds and vegetables"
Hexane is a solvent used to extract oils and is considered a neurotoxin by the CDC. It has caused neurological conditions in those who work with it in factories. Thought the amount of hexane in food is supposed to be minimal, according to the Cornucopia Institute hexane was still present in soy oil and meal when they tested it. In the past, even organic food could still be labeled organic and contain hexane. Make sure all ingredients are organic. 100%.

Go Organic First: Before even starting your elimination diet consider going organic first. You may not even have a food sensitivity. It could be you are reacting to a pesticide, food additive, or even something used to clean the manufacturer's machines. This simple step alone might eliminate some or all of you problems. When eating organic, make sure ALL ingredients are organic. Unfortunately, not all ingredients are required to be organic just because something has an organic label. You will have to read the ingredients to find out yourself.
