Following a hexane free diet is challenging. You will never see "hexane" on the ingredients list. It is used in the processing and then is supposedly removed. However, cornucopia while testing foods found hexane residue left in the food. Even "organic" and "natural" foods can contain hexane. The foods most likely to contain hexane are oils, soy products, flavored teas, chocolate, anything containing soy lecithin (which is a lot), supplements, ice cream, flours and starches, dairy, snack bars, plant based beverages, and even infant formulas. In order to avoid products with hexane, you'll need to avoid these products if they are not 100% organic. It is not enough that the package says "all natural" or even "organic." Look for the USDA organic label or read the ingredients to make sure all ingredients (especially those often made with hexane) are organic.
